ベルリン在住のアーティスト髙木 直美さんにインタビューしました！

Recently, I interviewed the Japanese artist Naomi Takaki in Berlin and asked her about her work and the city.

1、どちら出身ですか?いつベルリンに来られましたか?

Where are you from in Japan? When did you come to Berlin?

大阪出身です。3年前にベルリンに来ました。

I’m from Osaka. I came to Berlin three years ago.

2、ベルリンの好きなところをおしえてください。

Can you tell us about your favourite things about Berlin?

緑がたくさんあるところ。夏の間はよくフンボルトハイン公園で散歩をします。

There is a lot of nature (Berlin is actually very green). I often take a walk at the Humboldthain Park in summer.

3。今行っているアートプロジェクトについておしえてください。

Can you tell us about your current art project?

母校のプリントメイキング科(版画科)がWEB上の美術館というコンセプトでWEBページを運営しています。画像の作品にどのような視覚的効果があるか。 また、モニター上のみという枠内で、どういった表現が出来るか、そのような試みを目的としたweb上美術館です。次回は私が作品を発表する予定で、GIFを使って作品を制作しました。1920年代にサイレント映画の⻩金時代を築いた俳優の一人、バスター・キートンへのオマージュ的な作品です。

The print making course of my alma mater has a website whose concept is “the museum online”. They experiment how the image of works effects us visually and how we they are expressed on the monitor of a PC. I exhibit a GIF work for that. This work is a homage to Buster Keaton, who was a famous actor in golden age of the silent movies in the 1920’s.

4.今までの作品の中で印象深い作品はありますか?

Can you tell us about your earlier works?

2009年にある版画作品を制作したのですが、その作品のイメージは突然、鮮明に現れました。 1980年代頃のアメリカ郊外でとある兄弟が自宅のガレージでスクラップを集めて自前の飛行装置 を作り、飛行訓練の相談をしてるというものでした。自分でもよくわからなかったのですが、あまりにその一連のイメージが鮮明に浮かんだので作品を制作したい衝動に駆られました。とても個人的な作品だったので発表するのを少し躊躇したのですが、ちょうどタイミングよくオランダのライデンで版画のグループ展に参加する機会があったのでその作品を出品しました。まったく売れると期待してなかったので、売れたと聞いた時はびっくりしましたね。でも、私のすごく個人的な作品が、まったく知らない人の個人的なスペースの一部として存在していると思うとすごく不思議な気分です。

I made one print work in 2009, where I got the image by coincidence. Someone in the suburb of USA in 1980’s make a hand-made air plane with scrap at the garage and talk about that. Actually, I didn’t understand this image very well, but I was driven to make the works because the all images were too powerful. Though I hesitated to publish them, because they felt too private, I had a chance to join a group exhibition of print works in Leiden, Netherlands and I decided to put the works up for viewing there. I didn’t expect the works would be sold at all. So I was surprised when I heard  all the works were sold. I wonder if my works, which I though were too private, are at someone’s private place.

5、今チャレンジしていること、成し遂げたい夢を教えてください。

What is your dream to accomplish? What are your challenges now?

いくつかアイデアがあってそのアイデアをどのような技法、マテリアルで表現するのがベストなのかを考えています。今までは版画や絵画といった平面的な作品が主だったのですが、最近は立体作品の制作にも興味があり、先日初めて立体で作品を制作しました。樹脂をマテリアルに用いたので専門の方からの助言を仰ぎながらでしたが、制作過程自体がとても楽しかったですね。自分の頭の中でしか存在しなかった物が、実際に形になって目の前に現れ、それを色んな方向から眺めることができるのが立体作品の魅力の一つだと思います。

I have several ideas and I am thinking which technique and what kind of materials I should use as best ways to express myself. I made printing and image works until now. But I am interested in sculpture, too and recently I mademy first sculpture work. I used resin as a material with advice of a specialist. The production process was very interesting. It is one of the interesting features of sculpture that we can make our image in our head into a touchable thing and afterwards we can view our thought image from various directions.
